ACCREDITATION ASSESSMENT TEAM

INVITES PUBLIC COMMENT

Sioux City, IA- A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) will arrive on July 18th to examine all aspects of the Woodbury County Communications Center’s policy and procedures, management operations and support services, Communications Director, Glenn Sedivy announced today. Verification by the team that the Woodbury County Information & Communications Commission- Communications Center meets the Commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation- a highly prized recognition of Public Safety Communications excellence he said.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency personnel and the public are invited to offer comments by calling 712-224-5267 on Thursday, July 20th between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Comments will be taken by the assessment team. Telephone comments are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Woodbury County Communications Center by contacting Wendi Hess, Accreditation Manager at 712-279-6268.

Persons wishing to offer written comments about the Communications Center’s ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Gainesville, VA 20155

The Communications Center must comply with 213 applicable standards in order to become accredited. Once the assessors complete their review of the agency they will report back to the full Commission, which will then decide if the agency is to be granted accredited status. Accreditation is for three years, during which the agency must submit annual reports attesting to continued compliance with those standards under which it was initially accredited.
